Throughout its history the AM FM team has been spearheaded by the company’s founder and principal, Marcia O’Connor. Marcia’s strategic outlook as a consultant and extensive experience in the industry has informed her selection of our seasoned and diverse team members. Marcia has successfully demonstrated her ability to support and move forward on multi-disciplined strategies.

Marcia O’Connor launched AM FM Consulting Group Inc. in 2006. Since then she has seen AM FM expand to include three branches – Management Consulting, Technical Services and Education Services – specializing in innovative and sustainable solutions for asset and facility management.  Marcia is a senior business consultant with more than 25 years experience working with public and private sector organizations.  She is also a seasoned project manager, having successfully and effectively led multi-disciplined teams to meet desired deliverables for a number of portfolio reviews. Her areas of specialty include facilities space planning, real estate management, strategic planning, implementation planning, and coordination of facility evaluations and building reviews.

Marcia is a lifetime learner and thrives on helping individuals and organizations leverage their skills and knowledge to advance corporate direction. She provides a unique skill and expertise in the area of governance and strategic planning; alignment of business and workforce strategies, the design of organizational structures and processes to meet the changing and challenging issues facing organizations today. Over the past decade, Marcia has worked directly with a vast number of corporations, from analyzing existing governance structures, advising companies on internal controls, developing procedures and policies, drafting board committee charters and codes of conduct, to establishing internal compliance and training programs.

Marcia uses multiple methods to meet the needs of her clients including: facilitation and stakeholder consultation; research and data analysis; consultative planning; documentation and communication strategies to ensure optimal performance of the built environment. She is currently a member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Marcia currently provides program expertise and coordinates the Facility Management Certificate Program, offered for the last eleven years at the University of Toronto, and the Evidence-Based Facility Management program offered at U of T in partnership with the Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering.
