AM FM Consulting Group Inc. have been retained by People Access, a division of Excellence Canada to manage the Building Accessibility Excellence Program.

The program has been developed to address the need for accessibility standardization in the industry. Inspired by successes and lessons learned from public, private, and non-profit sectors, the Program is designed to align the Built Environment Standards, simplify the auditing, reporting and identification of accessibility barriers, and ensure qualified individuals are implementing the standards.

AM FM and People Access are dedicated to helping organizations embrace accessibility for people with disabilities, and believe everyone can benefit from the Building Accessibility Excellence program.

Key Features of the Program

• Draft ABES (Accessibility Built Environment Standard) checklist and Updates
  • 3 checklist options available including Customer Service Standard, Special Purpose, and Comprehensive Building Accessibility Audits.
• Audit Software and Training
  • Excellence Canada owns and licenses user-friendly web-based Building Accessibility Excellence software that makes data collection and input easier.
  • The software produces reports, cost tables, graphs, and is a tool to store, maintain and report on the accessibility audit findings and recommendations
• People Access Certified Building Auditors
  • Qualified, experienced, certified building Auditors are available to perform building accessibility audits
• Accessibility Assessor Certification Program and OBS/ABES Training
  • This program equips individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to perform quality accessibility audits and graduates become People Access Certified Auditors.
  • The Program is designed to maintain a standard of accessibility audits in the industry
  • Training is available for managers and front line staff on all aspects of the AODA leg­islation
• Oversight by Excellence Canada
  • Excellence Canada oversees the program to ensure it is in compliance with their overall mission, vision, values and principles.
